Guitar Augmented Chord Images

Guitar augmented chord images. Augmented chords are unique like the diminished chords having several names. One name for each note in the chord and they repeat themselve every four frets or major third interval.

These chords are easy to recognize. a lot of time they follow a regular major chord and get used in drop progressions a lot.

The + sign is usually used for a chord symbol like C+ or G+.

Music Tension

They usually give tension that will lead you into another chord. Tension is where you hear a chord but it sounds like it wants to change because the progression wants to get to the home chord.

Chord Construction

The augmented is made up entirely of major third intervals.

The augmented chord has a raised 5th in it. It’s only one note different than a major triad.

E♭, G and B Augmented Chords

Each chord can be used for three different chords. The same notes just different chord names. This is called plurality, other chords can have more than one name too. The Dm7 chord is also called an F6 chord.

The Notes for these chord are E♭, G and B.

This chord can be made from the third note of the C Melodic minor scale and the 3rd note of the C Harmonic minor scale also.

A♭, C and E Augmented Chords

The Notes for these chords are A♭, C and E.

This chord can be made from the third note of the F Melodic minor scale and the 3rd note of the F Harmonic minor scale also.

D♭, F and A Augmented Chords

The Notes for these chords are D♭, F and A.

This chord can be made from the third note of the B flat Melodic minor scale and the 3rd note of the B flat Harmonic minor scale also.

G♭, B♭ and D Augmented Chords

The Notes for these chords are G♭, B♭ and D.

This chord can be made from the third note of the E flat Melodic minor scale and the 3rd note of the E flat Harmonic minor scale also.

Remember that chords like G♭, D♭ are also F♯ and C♯, same pitch just a different spelling for different keys.

You can move any of these chords up or down four frets and have the same chord.

These are the most common chord forms. You can raise the 5th with a lot of other chords too but they won’t repeat like the triad does.
